Starting September 1, 2025, Athens Services will be the new waste hauler for all waste and recycling services in South, West, and East Whittier, East La Mirada, Los Nietos, and Sunshine Acres.

CART SWAPS BEGIN SEPTEMBER 2!

Universal Waste Systems (UWS) and Ware Disposal carts are being replaced with carts from Athens Services gradually throughout September.

Here’s what to know:

  • Place all your carts out on your scheduled collection day.
  • If it’s your turn, carts will be swapped after collection, by 8 p.m.
  • UWS and Ware Disposal will continue to provide service until August 31st.
  • Athens Services will service ALL carts throughout the cart swap period. Your old carts will be exchanged for gently used Athens carts on your regular collection day.
  • All basic service and extra carts are expected to be swapped by October 1st.
